About Kim Knox Beckius
Travel
Writer and Photographer and Author
of Backroads of New York
Kim Knox Beckius moved to Connecticut from her native New York in 1996 but still considers the Hudson Valley “home.” After graduating from F. D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park and completing a degree in history and communications at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, she worked in the Hudson Valley as a newspaper correspondent, a history teacher, public programs coordinator at historic Montgomery Place, and editor and spokesperson for Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp.
Since 1998, Beckius has produced a popular website devoted to travel in New England and New York State for About.com, a New York Times company. At
New England for Visitors, she takes
Internet users on virtual tours, offers candid reviews, and provides lively, weekly commentary on travel and events in the Northeast. Her travel writing and photography have been featured in magazines and on several other travel-related websites. Beckius is the author of Voyageur Press’s
Backroads of New England, as well as
The Everything Family Guide to New England and
The Everything Outdoor Wedding
Book. She is also senior writer for Grace Ormonde Wedding Style magazine.
